In Alberta, ECEs are typically certified at three levels based on their training and experience:

• Level 1: Entry-level (Orientation or short course)
   
• Level 2: Diploma-level (1–2 years of training)
   
• Level 3: Advanced (Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field)
   

These certifications are managed by the Alberta Child Care Staff Certification Office, and anyone working in licensed childcare programs must hold one of these certifications.
